Genuine solid parquet is priced per job by parquet installers, so ask for a written, itemised quote. Parquet gives real timber, but it is sensitive to moisture and replacing floor finishes in an HDB flat needs a permit.

Already have old parquet?

Many older HDB flats still have their original parquet. If it is firmly stuck down, level and dry, click-lock SPC can usually float over it, which avoids hacking. Loose, hollow-sounding or lifting blocks must be fixed or removed first, because a floating floor needs a solid, flat base. Ask the installer to check before you order, and ask the installer to quote levelling if needed.
