How much SPC flooring do you need?
Updated October 2026 · Enoch Surfaces, SingaporeMeasure each room you are flooring, add the areas, then add about 10% for cuts and offcuts. A 650 sqft floor needs about 715 sqft of planks. Underlay comes in rolls of 322 sqft, and trims are counted by doorway.
1. Measure each room
Measure length and width in metres and multiply. Add the rooms you are flooring, usually the living room, dining area, bedrooms and corridors. Kitchens and bathrooms often keep their tiles. Convert square metres to square feet by multiplying by 10.764.
| Room, example | Size | m² | sqft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Living and dining | 6.0 × 4.5 m | 27.0 | 291 |
| Master bedroom | 4.0 × 3.5 m | 14.0 | 151 |
| Bedroom 2 | 3.2 × 3.0 m | 9.6 | 103 |
| Bedroom 3 | 3.0 × 2.8 m | 8.4 | 90 |
| Total | 59.0 | 635 |
2. Add wastage
Planks are cut at walls, doorways and corners. Add 10% for a straight layout in ordinary rooms. Go to 15% for a diagonal layout or rooms with many corners. For 650 sqft, 10% extra means about 715 sqft of planks.
